Avant  Blonde

I was 16 when I knew I was going to make music. I was a sophomore in high school and I was studying for the SAT. However, there was a big music festival in Atlanta the night before the SAT... and I knew I had to go.

I was just starting to get into rock music like Nirvana and The White Stripes, and it was introducing me to a whole new musical landscape. I was hearing things that I never thought were possible to express, the aggression and sheer power of distorted guitars and haunting vocals. That led me to learn the guitar. As I gained this superpower, it became something that got me through the day.

Watching Jack White perform at that music festival, I knew this is what I was meant to do. I know the power of music as a fan. The brooding swagger of The Strokes that transports you right into a New York City subway station, the raw emotion of Kurt Cobain's screaming and beautiful melodies that leave you angry and understood, the transcendental dimension of emotion Radiohead puts you within. Their music has been the soundtrack to my life. I hope one of my songs can provide that for someone else.
